About Us

David Fowler has been in business since 1982,  specializing in custom cabinetry, finish carpentry and designs. In the 1990’s a prominent local trainer approached him about building some tack trunks for his barn. David agreed and saw the potential to grow into a new area of carpentry. Shortly thereafter, the custom tack trunk line was launched.
During the 1990s David began helping to build his wife Patti’s business as well. On A Fence Designs and Rentals, is a specialized landscaping service that provides plants and flowers to horse shows and other special events. As this endeavor grew they realized they needed to both be “on the road”, which made it difficult to be in both places at the same time.

Consequently Dave started looking for a way to further ‘customize’ his carpentry. Realizing a potential to combine both businesses by catering to the same industry, the Custom Tack Trunk line was launched in 1999.

The line consists of several versions of trunks, from the Trophy Trunk, which has been presented as a trophy at the Lake Placid horse show and the National Finals of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, to a simple and very functional, Reserve Trunk, which is sensibly priced for most budgets.
